THE
BOATING CENTER- BOAT SELLING SERVICE
Most commonly asked questions:
How
should I value my boat?
The Boating Center utilizes a blend of resources to help establish the market value of your boat. We start with "book values" from current NADA, Bluebook, and BUC book evaluation guides. We then go to the Internet and pull price-comparative boats from different parts of the country. After these numbers are analyzed, we add "curb" appeal and our own local dealer intuition to the formula and come up with a market value of your boat. We are very aware of all the competition in the market area
and what price is necessary to sell your boat.
How
will my boat be marketed?
The Boating Center will put your boat on our web site along with pictures and a detailed description. We will also list your boat with photos on four other major web sites, one local and three very popular worldwide sites. Your boat will also be listed on our boat show picture board and Boat Browser showroom kiosk. All of our listings periodically appear in the "Boat Trader" magazine, the Louisville Courier-Journal, and mass direct mailings to targeted markets. All boats are posted on
our Boat Board which travels with us to several local boat shows and promotions.
What
does it cost me to list and sell my boat?
The Boating Center charges a $250 marketing fee to list your boat and photos on all of the web sites, sales boards, etc., discussed above. The Boating Center works off of a "net listing" contract. "Net listing" means that a specific sum of money that you agree to will be paid to you upon the sale of your boat. The Boating Center receives all proceeds over the agreed net listing price. You would be responsible for any repairs necessary to consummate the sale of your boat unless otherwise specified. If any offers are made below the listing parameters, you would be notified of the net number needed to put the deal together. If you would be interested in receiving a trade, all offers will be presented to you. All negotiations are carried out by The Boating Center on
your behalf.
What
are the advantages of listing and selling my boat on The Boating Center?
The Boating Center is a full service marine dealership. That means we offer the many necessary services to professionally arrange the sale and delivery of your boat to its new owner. We provide services such as finding financial resources for the buyer and arranging transportation or movement of your boat to another location by truck or water. We have excellent clean-up and detail services to get your boat in tip-top shape for the best presentation possible. Another very critical process in the sale of your boat is the transfer of clear titles and proper payment of adequate funds. This process can be challenging to even our veteran administrative employees. The Boating Center assures clear titles and requires all payments by certified funds. All boats are subject to a sea trial, and all major mechanical components are to be in good operating condition unless otherwise specified. The Boating Center has a full staff of qualified technicians to perform any maintenance or repairs to your
boat if it should be required.
How
do I sign up?
Call The Boating Center and arrange for a boat listing interview. You will be asked to fill out an "About your Boat" form and answer detailed questions about your boat. Our consultants will establish a sale price and net listing price and fill out a listing agreement. You will be asked for the marketing fee and arrangements will be made to look at and take pictures of your boat. It is highly recommended that whenever possible The Boating Center should have your boat on its premises. Having the boat readily available greatly increases the exposure and success
in the sale of your boat.
